Demand for flat panel televisions is expected to more than double to 180 mln units by 2012, driven by strong sales in China and the United States, Japan Electronics and Information Technology Association said. Demand for LCD TVs is likely to reach 155 mln units in 5 years, up from 74.8 mln sold in 2007. Demand for plasma TVs will likely total 25 mln units in 2012, compared with 11.4 mln sold in 2007.
