21.4 mln printers sold in 2005

The number of printers shipped in 2005 rose to 21.4 mln units from 18.1 mln in 2004, Gartner said. The increase was driven by a 44.3% surge in color printers to 3.1 mln units. Shipments of monochrome printers grew by about 15% to 18.4 mln units. The color printer market soared 2004 due to price cuts by vendors. The average selling price fell 21%.
