Satellite TV now has 23 mln subscribers, or about 22% of American households. The main competitors, DirecTV and Dish Network, have more customers combined than the 21.5 mln subscribers to Comcast, the nation's largest cable provider. However, the cable industry as a whole, with 73.7 mln subscribers, still dwarfs satellite.
