24.3 mln Americans and 27.8 mln Europeans will subscribe to VOIP by 2008

Worldwide next gen voice product revenue jumped 18% to $614 mln between the first and second quarters of 2005, a new record for a quarterly gain, and is up 55% YTY, according to Infonetics Research. Annual revenue is forecast to grow to $5.7 bln by 2008. North American residential/SOHO VoIP subscribers jump from 1.1 mln in 2004 to 24.3 mln in 2008, with over 6 mln new subscribers added in 2006, 2007, and 2008. In Europe, VoIP subscribers multiply from 2.2 mln in 2004 to 27.8 mln in 2008, with close to 8 mln new subscribers in 2007 and 2008.
