52% of Web services are deployed in the US, 39% in Europe, 6% in Asia Pacific

52%% of Web services deployments have occurred in the United States, with the rest of the world accounting for the remaining 48%, the Radicati Group said. Europe accounts for 39% of all deployments this year, followed by Asia Pacific with 6% and the rest of the world 3%. The analyst firm expects sales to reach $6.2 bln in 2008 from $950 mln this year. The market defined by Radicati includes software tools and products related to management, integration and security.

Of companies with 1,000 to 1,999 employees, 59% have plans to deploy Web services in the next 12 months. Among big companies, 79% said Web services increased their ability to collaborate with external partners, 59% have lowered development costs and 71% have reduced complexity in their distributed computing systems, the Yankee Group said. In addition, 66% of the companies expected Web services to drive increased revenue within two years. The Yankee Group based its findings on a survey of 437 companies across industries and sizes.
