Nortel Networks and the U.S. Defense Department's Defense Information Systems Agency have signed a $20 million deal to upgrade six key voice switches in the U.S. Air Force's telecommuniations network.

The deal will enable theseof these switchesto handle VoIP calls- theoretically more than 100,000 simultaneous calls at each facility.

This is a major endorsement of VoIP security, and one with the potential for significant cost economies as well.
