Amazon Web Services rolled out a beta for Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) tools that will allow for better monitoring and visibility of cloud computing resources.
- Amazon CloudWatch, which tracks and monitors the company's cloud computing service;
- AutoScaling, which adds and subtracts EC2 capacity based on demand;
- And Elastic Load Balancing, which will distribute traffic across EC2 computing instances.
Collectively, Amazon's moves add up to more visibility into cloud computing resources. This step is necessary if the cloud ultimately becomes the data center for many companies. These new tools add visibility to Amazon Web Services and would likely appeal to enterprises.
The new tools are available to Amazon Web Services customers in the U.S. with the EU to follow "in the next several months."
