Amazon invests in user-generated shopping channel Talk Market

Amazon said Monday that it has invested in The Talk Market, a user generated TV shopping channel.

Terms of the investment, which closed in May, weren't disclosed, but the move does make you go hmm.

In the case of Talk Market, businesses are the users and create product presentations while enticing consumers. The Talk Market motto is "Show. Tell. Sell." Think QVC without the polish. Or QVC done by YouTube. Talk Market chips in the graphics, overlays and sound. Talk Market's payment processing is provided by Amazon Web Services Flexible Payment Service.

For now this investment is a little footnote (statement), but it doesn't take a huge leap to see how this could be integrated into Amazon's merchant network.

Looking at Talk Market's video I couldn't help but chuckle. My standard question: Who watches this stuff? But then again I never understood QVC either and that is a huge business. The anchors even have groupies (I kid you not). Here's a sampling of a Talk Market video, which frankly doesn't look all that different from what you'd find on QVC or HSN:
