Amazon has released its official lists covering the best-selling and most desired items of 2011, and the Kindle brand dominates each category.
The Kindle Fire proved to be the hottest product of 2011, securing the top spot on the best-selling, most gifted and most wished for lists, while the standard Kindle led the "most loved products of 2011" chart.
Other repeat contenders include Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Angry Birds Rio (ad-free) on both the best-selling and most wished for lists.
The lists in full can be viewed on Amazon's press page. However, Amazon did not provide specific numbers regarding just how many units of these items were counted on each list.
Going back to the Kindle, Amazon also boasted that this was the best holiday ever for the Kindle brand, both for the devices themselves and publishers using the platform.
Here's a rundown on some of the Kindle's highlights this past winter:
- Throughout December, customers purchased more than 1 million Kindle devices per week.
- The new Kindle family held the top three spots on the Amazon.com best-seller charts, with the Kindle Fire as the leader, followed by the Kindle Touch and the Kindle in second and third.
- Kindle is also the best-selling product on Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de, Amazon.fr, Amazon.es and Amazon.it this holiday season.
- Gifting of Kindle books was up 175 percent between Black Friday and Christmas, compared to the same period in 2010.
- Christmas Day was the biggest day ever for Kindle book downloads.
- The #1 and #4 best-selling Kindle books released in 2011 were both published independently by their authors using Kindle Direct Publishing
However, there aren't any specific, updated sales numbers to go by for the Kindle Fire, arguably one of the most desired and hyped devices of 2011, itself.
