Amazon's Prime Day deals include laptops, gadgets and electronics.

Amazon Prime Day, 24 hours of online shopping deals including technology, clothes, and books, has kicked off this July 12 with a range of all-day offers and lightning deals.

As part of the promotion, Amazon has used this opportunity to try and lure consumers into installing the Dash button -- by paying you to do so.

For today only, Amazon has discounted the Dash button range from $4.99 to $0.99, and will credit you $4.99 after you have tried it out for the first time.

Amazon's Dash buttons are an interesting idea. The small, simple gadgets can be hooked up to items you frequently order and when you begin to run out, you press the button and Amazon will automatically order the item for you. If you change your mind, you can also cancel the order while it is in processing.

The buttons can be used to order a variety of items, including laundry detergent, toilet paper, coffee, pet food, and toiletries from a variety of brands.

Although Amazon Prime Day is billed as strictly focused on members who have signed up to the Prime subscription service, you can also simply sign up for a 30-day trial and cancel before you are billed to enjoy the sales.
