AMD ready to match 166MHz Pentium chip for chip

AMD will next week launch a processor called the K5-PR166 which competes with the 166MHz Pentium.

The next generation K6 processor, which competes with the Pentium Pro, will sample in the first Quarter of 1997.

Separately, the firm said the redundancies announced today will not affect European staff.
