Five states are threateneing to sue the Environmental Procrastination Agency over gas. Not GASoline gas, but CO2 gas. California, Oregon, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Connecticut are seeking tighter controls on emissions from ships, airplanes and off-road vehicles. The current EPA, of course, cannot find the time or politiclal will to deal with the issue. So the states will likely go to court seeking to force EPA action. This is a move that has failed on similar issues, such as getting the EPA to rule on public health effects of global warming.

All this move really signifies is that this is one more issue crowdiing onto the environmental agenda for the NEXT President's administration. Some cleantech companies are already working on cleaner fuels for ships. I recently blogged about Innovation Fuels, ships running on old cooking oil.
