A new linux worm, called Adore and linked to the Ramen and Lion worms, has been detected adding to the growing list now exploiting weaknesses in the open source operating system.

The worm, discovered by industry group the SANS Institute, works by exploiting well-known flaws in the versions of the Linux OS. One of the flaws is a default setting on RedHat Linux 7.0.

It is the third well-publicised worm to target the Linux OS in the last few months. Previously Microsoft has been almost exclusively the virus-writer's favoured target.
