Asian PC market (excluding Japan) grew 13.1% in Q4 2004 resulting in annual growth of 15.9% on the back of strong results in markets like India and China, according to IDC. PC shipments reached 9.1 mln units in Q4 2004 and 34 mln units for entire 2004.

Lenovo Group led the region with 13.1% market share for Q4 2004. Its 12.3% share for the year was unchanged from 2003, even as all of its top rivals gained ground. HP closed the gap for the #2 spot, commanding 10.3% market share for 2004 compared with 9.4% in 2003. IBM was #3 and boosted its annual regional share to 7.4% from 6.8%. IBM PC business was recently acquired by Lenovo. Dell, the #4 player, saw its share grow to 7.2% from 6.1%.
