CommunicAsia 2012 will open its doors again next week beginning Jun. 19, and mobile technologies has been identified as a key focus area for this year's show. Startups will also get the chance to be in the spotlight, as a new feature called Discovery Lounge gives them the platform to pitch their ideas at audience members.
According to Agnes Leung, senior project manager at Singapore Exhibition Services (SES), the conference organizer, CommunicAsia has evolved over the years to stay relevant to developments in the ICT industry. This year, it has picked out mobile technologies, particularly mobile applications, to be a key theme with three new forum tracks on mobile commerce, mobile payments and mobile healthcare added to the show's lineup, she said.
One of the trade show's strongest supporters, Huawei Technologies, will also be showcasing its latest mobile devices and enterprise mobility offerings.
Heng Song Cheng, Huawei's director of enterprise solutions and marketing for South Pacific enterprise business, said that enteprise mobility is one of the challenges that are "keeping CIOs awake at night" as employees are no longer working at a fixed location and want to be mobile. As such, it will be offering products such as its cloud computing services to tackle this problem, he said.
Besides mobile technologies, CommunicAsia will also aim to help startups showcase their innovations and pitch their ideas at prospective investors through its Discovery Lounge, Leung added. Located at level 5 of Marina Bay Sands, this year's venue for the ICT fair, the Discovery Lounge will provide companies and research centers a dedicated space tp present their technologies and network with interested industry professionals, she stated.
