Last week saw my return to teaching, "Web design for designers". It was a challenge and good fun, at a large "communications agency" on the outskirts of Cardiff. Strange to be in a sparkling new business park environment, surrounded by green fields, motorway, new build and the smell of manure.

Apart from the buzz of being back in the teaching fold, the other strangeness was the use of Old Skool technology. I set up a simple slide show using Eric Meyer's s5, which is a simple, standards based slide show (as it says on the tin, using HTML & CSS. Once you've set up a template, the good thing about it is the speed with which you can edit the slide show, as the whole slideshow is contained in one HTML document.

However, I needed something even more immediate. Enter the flipchart. And a couple of pens.

Static vs. Dynamic web sites

So, I ended up writing more notes by hand, taking the photos and then transcribing all the notes and putting it all into a Joomla! CMS. Here can see the fruits of my labour.
