Blumice.com, a Legal ASP-modelled portal based in Singapore, has clinched Compaq Singapore's largest funding deal to date.

Singapore - Blumice.com will be getting a total of S$7.2 million in funding and systems support from the world's largest supplier of computing systems over a period of three years.

Through a strategic partnership, Compaq Singapore will provide the necessary technical expertise, personnel and hardware to support Blumice.com's vision of harnessing the power of technology and the accessibility of the Internet to solve work-process problems for the legal profession.

"I feel privileged that despite recent market sentiments about dot-coms, Compaq has shown such complete faith in Blumice.com by providing us with this heavy investment. I am certain that working together with Compaq will give us the added resources and synergy to realise our vision," said Terrence Wong, Blumice.com's chief technology officer.

Compaq also hopes to benefit from this partnership by using it as a platform to penetrate other niche markets.

"Working with Blumice.com has opened up a niche industry for us and this is in line with our strategy of positioning Compaq as the preferred solutions vendor. Most importantly, I find great potential in Blumice.com's vision and business model, " said TVT Chari, director of commercial personal computing group/channel management for Compaq Singapore.

Blumice.com will launch its consumer segment on 15 January 2001. It will offer features and services free of charge that will help raise public awareness of the law and keep consumers better informed.
