in brief After two years at the top and 12 years with the company, BMC Software Australia and New Zealand country manager Mike Davies has left the group to return with his family to his Kiwi roots.

The IT service management provider today issued a statement that said in his place the company has appointed the long-time local head of Enterasys Networks, Gary Mitchell. The executive has led Enterasys locally since early 2003, after a 15-year stint at CA. The company did not disclose what Davies' next move would be.
In an early version of BMC's statement, Asia-Pacific sales director Chip Salyards praised Davies, saying he had built a team that boasted some of the most advanced BMC implementations in the world, with an impressive local customer base.
However, BMC strangely later issued an updated statement with those comments removed, placing emphasis instead on Mitchell's suitability for the role. For his own part, Mitchell said he was eager to get started in the role.
