Brum residents to have say in Net regulation

The ITC (Independent Television Commission) is to consult 200 Birmingham residents over its potential role in regulation of Internet content.

The ITC has announced that, in principle, it has a statutory responsibility for regulating television programmes broadcast over the Internet, or when Internet access is available as part of licensed television services, such as digital television. The commission will use the views of the Birmingham Citizen's Forum to determine whether it should carry out Internet television regulation, and if so, how it should be implemented.

The ITC is an independent organisation that licenses and regulates commercial television in the UK.
