CNET Networks UK award winner: Ruckus Wireless

Technology Innovation of the Year at the 2008 CNET Networks UK Business Technology Awards was awarded to Ruckus Wireless's SmartMesh technology.

ZDNet.co.uk has long been a fan of mesh. By making each point in a wireless network a relay, magic happens: throughput and reliability goes up, reliance on wired infrastructure is reduced, and every ounce of radio and processing performance is put to work.

At least, that's the theory. Ruckus has put this to work, not just in a specialist environment but for general use — the first realisation of a potential that could change everything about wireless as we know it.
