LAS VEGAS -- Hyped-up hardware upstaged super software when Bill Gates unveiled a prototype of the future Tablet PC to a crowd packed tight with techies during his keynote at Fall Comdex Sunday night.

Microsoft Corp.'s (msft) chairman and chief software architect spent most of his more than 90-minute keynote outlining Microsoft's view of future software-to-software development centered around Microsoft .Net. But the 11,000 attendees seemed to be a lot more impressed by Microsoft's demonstration of a future Tablet PC form factor.

Couldn't get to the keynote? Want to see what all the fuss was about? No need to head to Vegas, just click onto ZDNet's archived video of the Gates' keynote and Tablet PC demo and let us bring all the excitement of Fall Comdex 2000 to you. -- ZDNet News
