Compaq lines up 19-inch CRT monitor

Compaq and Taiwan's ADI Systems will this summer be among the first in a line of makers to try out the new 19-inch CRT monitor format being pushed by Hitachi.

ADI, which supplies the number one PC vendor, will debut the new display standard in its MicroScan 6P from August 1. Priced at £600, the unit is designed to offer a new price point that bridges the popular 17-inch and highly expensive 21-inch sizes. The 6P offers support for 1,280 x 1,024 at 85Hz and 1,600 x 1,200 at 75Hz, and optional USB hub collar.

"The other guys are saying 'we might do it' but we're the first to announce a specific date so far as I know," said Matthew Gillard, ADI marketing co-ordinator.

ADI can be contacted by telephone on 0181-236 0801.
