IT problem delayed air passengers in Fiji

Fijilive reports that failed computers recently caused delays for 8000 passengers:

More than 8000 Air Pacific passengers were affected when computer systems failed at Fiji’s International Airport in Nadi at the weekend, airline managing director and chief executive officer John Campbell confirmed.

Campbell said the IT failure delayed passengers and flights because of very slow processing for departures.

He confirmed that all processing had to be done manually and it resulted in extensive queues, delays and frustration for customers.

While inconvenient, this failure pales in comparison to the huge baggage system meltdown last April at Heathrow Airport's terminal T5, which resulted in "mayhem," as one passenger described it.
