Dell launches consumer notebook line

Dell Computer Corp. (Nasdaq: DELL) Wednesday announced a notebook PC line aimed at consumers. The new line, Dell's Inspiron 5000, offers large screen sizes -- 14 or 15 inches -- at a price starting at $1,899. The notebook, which is 1.5-inches thick and weighs 6.8 pounds, will offer Intel's mobile Pentium III processors. -- John G. Spooner, ZDNet News
