Dell UK sees millions in Web sales this year

Dell UK said today it expects sales generated by its Web site to quickly pass the $1 million mark.

"The response rates are shooting up as we learn more about the [Web selling] business," said David Moore, marketing manager for Dell Direct. "Our intention is to pass $1m for the July-September quarter and for that figure to be multimillion dollar by the end of the year. We're learning: advertising can bring people to your site but making it interesting will make them stay there. Convenience, functionality and ease of use are very important if people are going to buy over the Net."

Dell kicked off its UK Web sales bid early in May, claiming that in the US Dell's Web sales were accounting for about $1m per day.
