If you're looking for a system in that coveted notebook-netbook gray area -- that is, anywhere between 10 and 13 inches, non-inclusive -- Dell's new Inspiron 11z thin-and-light might do the trick.

At 3-lb. and 1-in. thick, this Dell sports a 1.2GHz Celeron 723 processor, 1,366 by 768 LED-backlit display, 2GB DDR2 RAM, a 250GB (5400RPM) SATA hard drive, GS45 integrated graphics, Wi-Fi and a 3-cell battery.

There's also a 1.3-megapixel camera, twin stereo speakers, an Ethernet port, three USB 2.0 ports, a 3-in-1 multicard reader and one HDMI output, but no optical drive.

The 11z is eligible for the free Windows 7 upgrade. It's available now for $399.

For a price like that, would you buy this as your Windows 7 "netbook" notebook?
