Geeky typographic Firebug shortcut

When I need a curly quote “” or an ellipse … in a plain text editor, rather than boot up GNOME Character Map or OpenOffice, I'll use the Firefox web developer add-on Firebug. Simply open a blank page (type about:blank in the address bar or use a shortcut in SiteLauncher), in Firebug right-click the body tags & Edit HTML…, then simply type in your HTML entity.

Geeky typographic Firebug shortcut

When I need a curly quote “” or an ellipse in a plain text editor, rather than boot up GNOME Character Map or OpenOffice, I'll use the Firefox web developer add-on Firebug.

Simply open a blank page (type about:blank in the address bar or use a shortcut in SiteLauncher), in Firebug right-click the body tags & Edit HTML…, then simply type in your HTML entity.

Of course, you'll need to memorise your HTML entities. Did I mention it was a geeky shortcut?
