Google Docs is stumbling, with multiple users reporting difficulties accessing the cloud document management service.

According to several reports on Twitter, the downtime started at around 2:36pm on Monday.

"Google Docs down for our Google Apps account," Adam McFarland posted on Twitter. "Great start to a Monday where most of my work involves being in Google Docs."

According to web monitoring service Just-ping, Google's San Francisco and Budapest IP locations were "temporarily not available".

Problems are not being seen by all users, and some people reported the service was fine for them. Attempts by ZDNet UK to reach Google Docs from multiple computers were sometimes successful and sometimes not.

"We're investigating reports of an issue with Google Docs List. We will provide more information shortly," Google wrote at 2:48pm.

Update: 3:26pm

"The problem with Google Docs List should be resolved," Google wrote at 3:16pm. "We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and continued support. Please rest assured that system reliability is a top priority at Google and we are making continuous improvements to make our systems better."

At the time of writing Google had not responded to requests for a description of what caused the outage or how many users it had affected.
