A couple of months back, IBM posted a video on SOA on YouTube, which bears a resemblance to the trailer for a suspense movie.

Now, there's something really hilarious (but alas, so true) dealing with the SOA life. Scott Fingerhut forwarded this YouTube link over to me, which stars Greg the Architect, and the bad day he has while interviewing three vendors for SOA solutions.

Greg's CIO (shown under considerable "pressure" from the C-level guys) told him to scope and deliver an SOA solution for the company.

No problem, says Greg, I've got three vendors coming in...

The vendors either pitch buying lots of hardware, or speak in techtalk way above Greg's head, leaving him to ponder:

"I wish I could be as competent about SOA as these guys...  but still be able to get a date."
