PC maker Acer has inked a three-year deal to market, sell and support storage area network solutions from Hitachi Data Systems (HDS).

The agreement covers Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia and India.

"Acer will promote the Hitachi Thunder family of storage systems through its local channel partners in these markets. The partnership will accelerate Acer's position in the entry- to mid-level SAN market and bring us into the storage-attached-oriented Windows server market," HDS said in a statement.

"We see tremendous opportunity for growth within the small and medium enterprise marketplace as more and more enterprise applications become available on the Windows operating system," Michael Cremen, HDS general manager for Australia and New Zealand, said.
