Intel and IBM in wireless alliance

Web services in a wireless world...

Intel and IBM today sealed a deal to bring WebSphere-based web services to wireless devices. The initiative aims to speed up the development of wireless applications based on Intel servers and clients and IBM's WebSphere middleware. The deal has a conveniently pan-Scandinavian dimension, as IBM's Helsinki-based mobile ebusiness headquarters will collaborate with the Intel wireless competence centre in Stockholm. The deal extends the companies' existing relationship in the wired world, and the two will select further partners such as application developers to join in.
