One week after introducing a 533MHz desktop Celeron chip, Intel Corp. (Nasdaq: INTC) reduced prices on several other Celerons by up to 10 percent. Intel reduced the price per 1,000 of its 500MHz Celeron by 10 percent to $128, the 466 MHz Celeron by 5 percent to $89 and the 433 MHz also by 5 percent to $69. The 533MHz Celeron, however, held steady at $167. Price moves are generally scheduled well in advance by Intel; however, the company is expected to roll out a new Celeron chip, at about 566MHz, later in the quarter. --John G. Spooner, ZDNN
