At 1pm local time in San Francisco, the giant has promised to introduce architects from itself and partner Hewlett-Packard, offer a 'technology preview' of the instruction set, and take questions from the audience at the tenth Microprocessor Forum, an influential annual event.

Also at the Forum, Sun and the PowerPC group will discuss next-generation RISC processors while startup Centaur will discuss its C6 budget-priced PC processor. AMD CEO Jerry Sanders will give the opening day keynote.
