Sun Microsystems and EMC led the Nasdaq lower at midday Tuesday after a Goldman Sachs analyst said the companies are unlikely to meet growth targets. The Nasdaq shed 49.99 points to 2,201.04.

The Dow Jones industrial average was up 27.13 to 11,032.50.

Goldman Sachs analyst Laura Conigliaro lowered estimates for networking company Sun Microsystems and data-storage maker EMC, souring investors on the companies.
