After a very long wait, Amazon has finally released the Kindle for Mac e-book reader application. Who needs an iPad now?

Well, even though Amazon notes "No Kindle Required," it would still be annoying to lug your laptop around every you want to read an e-book. But with the application on your laptop or desktop, it could be convenient for accessing over 450,000 electronic titles when at home or work.

Note that this is only compatible with OS X 10.5 and above on Intel-based machines, requiring 100MB of available disk space.

If you are a Mac owner and you are dying for this application, you can go download it now over on Amazon.
