Korea to revise Internet laws

In an attempt to reduce the dangers arising from Internet shopping transactions, the relevant laws related to Internet business are to undergo a large-scale revision

At a seminar held at the National Assembly on August 24, Byun Jae-il, chief manager of the Information planning team of the Ministry of Information and Communication said, "For the purpose of increasing safety and raising confidence in Internet shopping, we plan to remodel 10 Internet-related laws and ordinances. We will prepare the revisions by the end of this year."

According to the plan suggested by Byun, the government will improve tax laws to stimulate Internet shopping, so that companies in this sector will enjoy the effect of reduced taxes, at least by the end of the year.

So as to increase the confidence of consumers in Internet shopping, the ministry plans to improve laws designed to encourage Internet use and prevent the distribution of illegal information and will also create a council for information privacy.
