Local search advertising grew 27% in 2003

Newspaper and TV station Web sites both became beneficiaries of an online spending increase of 27% by local advertisers between 2002 to 2003, according to Borrell Associates. Fully 58% of the newspaper and TV station sites surveyed report online profitability for 2003, and the percentage was even higher for newspapers only, as 83% were in the black with high online profit margins.
