LogicaCMG officially opened its new office in Moscow. The opening follows what the company said was stellar growth in the Russian mobile communications market and a successful year for LogicaCMG in the region.

LogicaCMG counts two of the country's leading national mobile network operators, Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) and Vimpelcom, amongst its customers.

LogicaCMG recently announced a multi-million euro frame agreement win with MTS, confirming its position as preferred supplier of Next Generation Messaging solutions. LogicaCMG also announced a €5.9 million contract, as part of this agreement, to deploy Next Generation Short Messaging Service Centres (SMSCs) in three Russian regions, Wireless Service Brokers (WSBs) in two Russian regions and an additional one in Moscow, plus a new Multimedia Messaging Service Centre (MMSC) in Moscow, as well as software and hardware upgrades to the operator’s messaging portfolio.

The Russian mobile communications market is the largest in Eastern Europe, expected to become the largest in Europe by the end of 2005. With mobile phone penetration currently standing at approximately two-thirds of the population, and concentration in the major conurbations beginning to spread to the regions, this is a key strategic market in Europe and one to which LogicaCMG is committed.
