Lycos Asia appoints HK country director

Leong Kwong Yee has been named Lycos Asia’s Hong Kong country director.

Leong has management experience in IT business operations and business development in various markets across Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

Before joining Lycos Asia, Leong was head of Hong Kong operations for Similan.com Limited, the holding company for SurfingBananas.com.hk, a Web-based auction site.

Prior to this, he was the international sales and marketing manager for Torica,Ltd, a Japanese trading company in the IT peripherals industry. He was responsible for business development and operations in the Asia Pacific region, and directly in charge of the Singapore and Hong Kong offices.

Upon graduating from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Philosophy, Leong began his career with multi-media peripherals manufacturer, Creative Technology Limited in Singapore, where he managed the company’s distribution channels in Thailand, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. He also spent two years at Intresource Systems as regional sales manager where he was responsible for the company’s distribution network in the Middle East, Europe and Southeast Asia.
