Lycos to offer free file storage

Internet portal Lycos Inc. will soon announce an exclusive deal with online file storage company Driveway.com. Similar to the portability of web-based email services like Hotmail, Driveway lets people store up to 100 megabytes of files on its service for free. The data can be accessed from anywhere with Web access with a login and password. Driveway.com will be rolled out on Lycos properties beginning in the first quarter of 2000. Specific financial details of the deal were not disclosed however the two companies did say they plan to share revenue generated by the deal. -- Jennifer Mack, ZDNet News
