Cyrix's M2 processor is getting ready to join the coming out party for a new generation of processors. While AMD is getting set to launch its K6 processor next Thursday, April 3, and Intel eyes a May 7 debut for Pentium II, the minnow of the sector also sees a second quarter release for its device.
"M2 is fine and hunky-dory and bang on date," said Brendan Sherry, Cyrix UK managing director. "We're very close to pressing the button [for manufacturing]."
However, Sherry declined to give a precise ship date. "I've read it's going to be May but we've said late Q2 all along and I'm pretty sure we'll make that."
