in brief Macquarie Telecom has extended its total ADSL2+ network to over 250 exchanges.

Of the exchanges, 100 are in Western Australia and Queensland — regions which Macquarie Telecom says have been neglected by other telcos. The expansion has increased the number of exchanges by 214.

Macquarie operates exclusively in the businesses and government markets, who will be able to access maximum theoretical speeds of 24Mbps downlink and 1Mbps uplink.

Once the network has been upgraded to ADSL2+, customers have the capability to upgrade to higher speed services. Some customers will be automatically migrated to a higher speed service without additional cost, for example from 6Mbps downlink and 640Kbps uplink to 8Mbps downlink and 768Kbps uplink.
