After several reports that an intruder stole its software jewels, Microsoft Corp. (msft) released a statement on Friday denying that any software was stolen from its servers. "The situation appears to be much narrower than originally reported," said the company. "Our investigation shows no evidence that the intruder gained access to the source code for our major products, such as Windows Me, Windows 2000, or Office." The hacker apparently was able to view the source code to a future product, but there was no modification or corruption of the code, said the company in the statement. -- Robert Lemos, ZDNet News
