Microsoft to pour money into Apple

Microsoft is to contribute $150 million to help save Apple, according to Reuters.

The cash is a little more than a token considering the scale of Apple's difficulties but underlines the deep links between the companies. Although the pair fought in the courts over rights to GUI technology patents, Microsoft still gets a significant revenue stream from Macintosh applications and was quick to endorse Apple's plans for Rhapsody, a next-generation operating system based on NextStep, the OS it bought with the purchase of Next.
