But you have to be French to use them...

French visitors to Disneyland Paris will be able to access venue information by using their phones to snap 2D barcodes.

The so-called Flashcodes - a French take on QR codes, which are big in Japan - will push visitors to a mobile portal containing a range of Disney info such as discount coupons, show times, videos and games.

The Disney Flashcodes will be featured inside and outside the park as well as in locations such as the French underground system to advertise the park's attractions.

Orange Business Services, a division of the mobile operator, is providing advice, support and technical set-up for the Flashcodes.

However, Flashcodes are only compatible with a minority of mobiles - currently around 35 models - and also only those on French networks.

Other mobile owners will have to send a text to a common SMS number and in return receive an SMS that will connect them to the portal.
