MS to play host for Office Online

Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq:MSFT) Tuesday said it will move ahead with long discussed plans to offer its Office productivity software online as a service by the end of the year. The program allows customers to rent the software applications, rather than buy them. MS Office Online will be available for small business customers through Microsoft's Central Web services portal.
