M'sian electronic expo rings in sales of US$192m

Malaysia's largest electronics manufacturing exhibition, NEPCON Malaysia 2001, which concluded recently, made RM731.5 million (US$192.8 million) in total sales.

KUALA LUMPUR--Malaysia's largest electronics manufacturing exhibition, NEPCON Malaysia 2001, which concluded recently, made RM731.5 million (US$192.8 million) in total sales.

According to a statement here Monday, a total of US$65 million (RM247 million) sales was secured at the show floor whilst another US$127.5 million (RM484.5 million) worth of products and services will be transacted within the next 12 months.

NEPCON MALAYSIA 2001 saw the participation of 458 exhibiting companies from 27 countries, including Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Holland, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Netherlands, Norway, Philippines, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, UK and USA.

Steven Thong, general manager of event organiser Reed Exhibitions Sdn Bhd said: "The exhibition has been quite successful. Exhibitors are extremely happy with their participation and more than 45 percent of exhibitors have now reserved space for NEPCON PENANG 2002, which will be held in June next year."

"A survey that we have conducted revealed that 85 percent of the exhibitors met their objectives," he said.

The exhibition is part of the world's longest running NEPCON series, covering markets like China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Europe and America.

The exhibitions are renowned worldwide and they provide a global platform and a meeting point for industry professionals to congregate. The exhibition, has for years, been the choice venue to unveil new technologies and launch new products.

The exhibition was held from July 26 to July 29 in Kuala Lumpur.
