ASP HyperTrust is to start employing PKI specialist nCipher's nForce technology to help secure its B2B and B2C client transactions.
The deal will see HyperTrust using nCipher's encryption hardware to store its customers' private keys as well as digital certificates. It allows HyperTrust to host customers' secure email, certificate validation and time stamping which utilise the public key infrastructure (PKI) technology. Maarten Willems, managing director at HyperTrust, said: "HyperTrust secures sensitive communications through digital receipts, which act as proof of transaction, so it is essential that we have the most effective controls to ensure the safety and validity of our private keys used to sign the receipts." Alex Van Someren, CEO at nCipher, said in a statement: "With increasing volumes of secure transactions and communications, the emerging Trust ASP model seems a practical and cost-effective solution for many companies that do not have the skills or resources to set up and manage their own security systems."
