TOKYO, 5 Apr 2000 (Asia Pulse) - NEC Corp (TSE:6701) announced Tuesday that it has begun offering electronic commerce solution packages to help clients construct electronic malls and the like.

The company has prepared nine different types of products that will allow clients to begin e-commerce operations in a short amount of time and at a low cost. Different packages will help companies develop business-to-business or consumer-oriented e-commerce. In addition, to accompany the expanded product lineup, NEC plans to double the staff in its Internet software development department, which it founded in December 1999, raising the number to 400 employees.

The company will bolster sales functions as well. In the next two years, NEC aims for sales of 20 billion yen (US$190.4 million) from its e-commerce products.
