Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire dropped 51% from Q2 2004. But even with that quarterly decline, 2004 is still on track to see more venture capital invested in startup companies locally than 2003. Total venture capital investment in the three-state region for 2004 is forecast to be $2.5 bln, up from $2 bln in 2003. But Q3 investment totaled just $395 mln, down from $808 mln in the second quarter.
